Our History

1870 – North East London Gospel Mission founded. This grew to six hospices, children’s homes, hospitals and Gospel Halls.

1909 – Metropolitan Benefit Societies Asylum Hall, Balls Pond Road, becomes the Mission centre.

1931 – St. Mark’s Hall, Boleyn Road became the Mission centre.

1932 – William Chorley died left money in his will to buy the house at 9 King Henry’s walk and build the main Mission Hall.

1936 – Chorley Mission (North East London Gospel Mission) registers as a Charity.

1937 – The present Mission building opened.

1953 – The New Youth Hall opened (back hall).

1950 – Mr. Thomas Piercy appointed as Superintendent.

1978 – Mr. John Piercy appointed as superintendent.
